Sant Pau Research Institute

Project Description

Modernist architecture and sustainability are combined in the Sant Pau Research Institute, which was created by 2BMFG Arquitectes and PICH architects_Pich-Aguilera. Made up of 45,000 ceramic fabric pieces, the Flexbrick® facade visually blends in with its surroundings while controlling solar radiation. The interior has a vitrified polychrome finish that reflects the modernist domes of the building, while the exterior color blends in well with the surrounding historical pavilions. Throughout the day, the design changes, resulting in a dynamic mosaic of light. The project is an example of an effortless combination of exterior and interior aesthetics, and it meets strict bioclimatic criteria, earning A Energy and Leed Platinum certifications.
